Jenae’s new skin loving recipe

I’ve always been the kind of girl who’d rather browse the superfoods aisle than the snack aisle (unless we’re talking about seaweed chips—then it’s war).
Healing the body through food has fascinated me forever, but becoming a mum has amplified my obsession tenfold. Now, I’m not just feeding myself—I’m fueling a tiny human. And let me tell you, those squishy cheeks deserve the best.
So, we’ve been moving toward a whole foods lifestyle. Think: fewer packets, more produce. More nutrients, less “what even is this ingredient?” And the bonus? A radiant complexion that starts in your gut and ends in your glow.
Because yes, you can eat your skincare.
(Please don’t skull your hormonal concentrate*)
Your skin’s not just soaking up serums—it’s drinking in whatever you’re feeding your cells. Antioxidants, omega-3s, good fats, vitamins—they’re all part of your beauty routine now.
Which brings me to my snack of the moment.
And I don’t say this lightly: I’m shook.
You know when you want just a little something—a crunchy, salty fix without the post-snack regret spiral? Meet my MVP:
CARROT CHIPS
(aka, skin-loving crisps in disguise)
Here’s how to make them:
• Slice up some carrots super thin—like, paper-thin if possible.
• Pop them in a bowl.
• Drizzle with olive oil.
• Add a splash of apple cider vinegar.
• Sprinkle sea salt or pink Himalayan salt.
• Shake, shake, shake until everything’s coated.
& BOBS YOUR UNCLE- done!
& now for the science-y stuff—aka why your skin and body will thank you:
Carrots: Rich in beta-carotene (hello, vitamin A… hello helping hormones!!), which converts into retinol in the body. That’s the same hero you’re applying topically for smoother skin and a brighter complexion. Eating it helps repair skin tissue and protects against sun damage from the inside out.
Olive Oil: Full of antioxidants and healthy fats. It fights inflammation, supports cellular function, and helps your skin stay soft, supple, and plump. Basically, edible glow.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Balances blood sugar and supports digestion, which means fewer breakouts and better nutrient absorption. And a healthy gut = clear skin.
Sea Salt/Himalayan Salt: Natural salts contain trace minerals like magnesium and potassium that support hydration and reduce puffiness. Also, they make things taste really good.
I’m not saying these carrot chips are a skincare miracle…
Actually, wait—yes I am.
